Marsanne first appeared in the Drôme in the 12th century. It is the great white grape variety of the Rhône Valley.
It thrives on the warm, stony soils of the valley's northern appellations.
Marsanne produces wines with floral, honey and hazelnut aromas that develop with age. It also makes great wines for laying down.
Marsanne can also be blended with Roussanne in the Crozes-Hermitage and Saint-Joseph appellations.
Marsanne is also very popular with wild boar in Crozes-Hermitage!
They love it and have a really good time eating it in September.
At Clairmont, you'll find Marsanne in all our white Crozes-Hermitage wines.
